“People say that what we are all seeking is the meaning of life. I don’t think that’s what we are really seeking. I think that what we are seeking is an experience of being alive.”   -Joseph Campbell

Individual, Couple, and Family Counseling Teaching and Group Facilitation

Jean Frinak was certified and licensed in 1986 by the state of Washington both as a Mental Health Counselor and as a Marriage and Family Therapist, and has been working as a professional therapist since that time. She has had many years of experience working with hundreds of clients with a wide spectrum of issues. In this field, experience matters.

Her philosophy is wholistic and integrative. It is built on compassionate concern, attentiveness and cooperation with her clients.

Jean FrinakJean says, “I see myself as acting as a kind of midwife for a more profound sense of aliveness that is wanting to come through in my client’s lives. I listen to their words, to the wisdom of their bodies, and to their own deep knowing. A process of growth and transformation is already trying to emerge. I attend to this and align my skills with it.”

Jean works with a variety of therapeutic issues, which include: marriage and couple counseling, career clarification, loss and grief, depression, anxiety, sexuality, conflict resolution, difficulties with one’s family of origin, trauma, creativity, mindfulness and spiritual integration. She chooses from her wide range of professional training methods and skills those that uniquely fit the people she is caring for.

“What I see is that the amount of richness and satisfaction that clients get out of the experience is in direct proportion to what they give to it. And, the sooner people start, the better, as time tends to habituate the very patterns they are wanting to change”, Jean says. “Research has shown that couples in particular tend to wait six years longer than would be most helpful to begin therapy.”

“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back…Whatever you can do,  or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.”
-J.W. Goethe
